Certification
The Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification program was developed by the American Payroll Association in 1985 as a method of serving the interest of those working in Payroll. This has aided in establishing respect for Payroll as a profession rather than a technical discipline, maintaining high standards in the industry, as well as recognizing those individuals who have proven themselves to be among the top ranks of the industry.
In 2000 the Fundamental Payroll Certification Exam (FPC) was offered for the first time ever. This certification was developed to promote the standard for payroll professionals that is accepted by the business community and the public at large.

Hampton Roads APA CPP/FPC Study Group
This is intended to prepare intermediate to advanced level Payroll Professionals for either the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certificaion (FPC) Exam. This is an intensive Payroll "body of knowledge" review course requiring an estimated 6-8 hours per week study time plus the weekly review sessions.
Any CPP/FPC who needs recertification hours can take the class and receive RCH credits.

Registration Deadline: June 24, 2011
Recertification
To maintain CPP or FPC status, recertification is required after 5 years for CPP and 3 years for FPC.
Recertification may be achieved through accumulating 120 recertification credit hours (RCH) for CPP and 60 for FPC or by successfully retesting.
